1. a warning system which indicates the level of bushfire threat on any given day, based on the forecast weather conditions, and divided into six categories: low-moderate, high, very high, severe, extreme, and catastrophic.
2. a visual representation of these categories comprising a semicircle divided into a number of coloured segments with the rating indicated. Abbrev.: FDI
